    the road towards competitiveness passes through new training systems

     

    Why Training?

    A recent Gartner Consulting Study pointed out that "as the current market context is characterized by an increasingly global and dynamic competition, the role of qualified employees becomes more and more central and strategic, being a real company asset and a decisive competitive tool."*

    Companies need to provide Continuous Learning for their employees on their own Company Know-How.

     

    It is essential to choose new tools in order to effectively provide this peculiar training, still keeping costs within acceptable boundaries.

    Unsatisfactory results of many experiments should not discourage the usage of tools which are considered alternative to traditional training: innovation still remains the only possible road to follow, as shown by those countries that believe in the strategic role of training.

     

    E-learning is surely the better known new generation tool for training. From what we have seen until now though, this is not enough. Without a clear structure in the e-teaching phase, and without an effective support to tutors, e-learning cannot properly face ad-hoc training.

     

     

     

    TandL – Teaching and Learning

    TandL - Teaching and Learning is an IT system developed by Tecnologie Innovative, oriented to Companies and Public Authorities. TandL is an extremely innovative system based on a new way to intend training, as for the first time it sees e-teaching and e-learning as combined but still independent.

TandL is the result of 3 years of studies and experimentations, which have lead to extremely relevant results. TandL presents unique characteristics compared to its competitive scenario, which are the result of a long integration process among all the elements of Teaching and Learning phases, among 'collaborative', tutors support and management aspects, as well as between methodological and technological aspects.

     

     

     

    TandL main innovative characteristics

    Course Planning - definition of the Formative Objectives

    During the course planning phase, TandL allows to define and classify the Didactic Objects on the basis of a taxonomy definable by the user. TandL helps build the semantic net of propaedeutics among the various Didactic Units.

     

    TandL's course planning and structuring process does not necessary involve the course to be provided in e-learning: TandL can be used as well only as a Teaching Support Tool in the course structuring phase, which can then be provided in a traditional way.

     

    Automatic generation of the site

    The whole site infrastructure implementation does not require any IT experts' support, as it is automatically generated by TandL.

     

    Personal program of study for each student

    Through the use of Artificial Intelligence TandL generates a 'Skill Gap Analysis' process that allows students to attend a skill evaluation, and automatically generates the program of study more likely to meet the student's personal characteristics and background.


    Support to Tutors

    The role of the Tutor is extremely important in e-learning, as he represents the necessary human contact for the Student. Without the Tutor, the Student might feel at the mercy of a computer, and therefore feel 'depersonalized', demotivated, etc... Tutoring is where many e-learning projects have failed. Tutoring is where TandL offers new and innovative solutions.

     

    Intelligent Inspection Systems

    TandL is the only system that offers the possibility to investigate on the Student's preparation and discover if there are any topics where he might have gaps. This offers to Tutor and Students all the necessary information in order to fill in these gaps and to actually achieve the preparation.

     

    Procedures Simulation

    TandL offers an extremely innovative on-line simulation system which can be used to develop explanations, exercises or tests for the learning of informatics procedures, forms filling, etc.

     

    Communication System

    TandL automatically generates a 'collaborative asynchronous' personalizable communication system for each course. This system, which includes forums and procedures, is integrable with synchronous videocollaborative systems of third parties.

     

    Versatility

    The high versatility of the system allows to structure a course for any subject. Indeed, TandL is compatible with contents in any format (.doc, .pdf., .txt, .mp3, .wmv, etc...) as long as they are supported by a browser (Explorer, Netscape). In this way structuring a course becomes very easy for any teacher, after a previous short training.

     

    Multilanguage

    Con TandL allows to translate dboth contents and tests from one language to another. Actually each subject of the course (Manager, Teacher, Tutor, Student) can switch at any moment the language of both the interface and the contents.


     

    The advantages of using TandL

    Entry Level costs cut-down

    Many companies that represent the demand of ad-hoc courses were not able to invest on e-learning because of the very high start up costs.

    TandL's versatility, flexibility and efficiency, together with its innovative infrastructure, drastically cut-down entry level costs for experimental courses.

    It is not necessary anymore to have thousands of student in order to justify the investment for a course, as with TandL it is possible to activate a course for a few dozen people with a reasonable investment.
